Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing a Cake for Your Event

Read it in 5 minutes

The cake is the sweet moment every guest eagerly waits for. Whether it’s a wedding, christening, birthday, or corporate event, choosing it carefully is essential. A well-thought-out, spectacular, and delicious cake will always be remembered. Still, there are some common mistakes that can spoil the experience.

1. Choosing only by design

A cake may look impressive, but flavor is what makes the difference. Many clients focus solely on the design and forget to test the flavors.
👉 Our tip: schedule a tasting and choose a cake that blends taste and looks.

2. Ordering the wrong quantity

Too little cake leaves guests disappointed, while too much leads to waste. Remember the golden rule: 150 g per guest.
Example: for 100 guests, you’ll need about 15 kg of cake.

3. Ignoring the season

A heavy chocolate and caramel cake may feel overwhelming for a summer wedding. On the other hand, fresh and fruity flavors (e.g., Red Velvet, Miller’s Cake, Pinna Colada) are perfect for the warm season.

4. One flavor for all guests

Tastes vary, and a single flavor won’t please everyone. For events with more than 50 guests, we recommend at least two flavors:

  • one chocolate option (Snickers Cake, Oreo Cake),
  • and one fruity option (Vanilla Cake, Chocolate Passion).

5. Last-minute orders

A custom cake requires time. If you place your order too late, you risk not getting the design you want or finding no availability.
👉 The safest choice is to book your cake at least 2–3 weeks in advance.

✨ A successful cake is more than just a beautiful dessert – it’s the perfect combination of taste, quantity, design, and personalization. Avoid these mistakes and you’ll turn the sweet moment into an unforgettable memory.

At Miller’s Cake, we help you choose the right flavors, calculate the right quantity, and design a cake that tells your event’s story.
